Navgrah Jap

The Navgrah Jap Puja is a significant Hindu ritual aimed at appeasing the nine planetary deities (Navgrahas) and seeking their blessings to remove obstacles, mitigate malefic effects, and enhance beneficial influences in one’s life. Each of the nine planets in Vedic astrology has a profound impact on an individual's life, and this puja is performed to balance these energies and promote overall well-being.

  1. Surya (Sun): Represents vitality, authority, and health.

  3. Mangal (Mars): Symbolizes courage, strength, and property.
  4. Budh (Mercury): Associated with intelligence, communication, and business.
  5. Guru (Jupiter): Represents wisdom, prosperity, and spirituality.
  6. Shukra (Venus): Governs love, art, and luxuries.
  7. Shani (Saturn): Represents discipline, hard work, and karma.
  8. Rahu: Known for materialism and desire.
  9. Ketu: Associated with spirituality and detachment.

  3. Invocation and Sankalpa:

    • Begin by invoking Lord Ganesha to remove obstacles.
    • Perform a sankalpa (intention) by stating the purpose of the puja and mentioning the name and details of the person for whom the puja is being performed.
  4. Kalash Sthapana (Installation of the Sacred Pot):

    • Place a Kalash (sacred pot) filled with water, betel leaves, and a coconut on the altar as a representation of the universe.
  5. Navgraha Sthapana (Installation of the Nine Planets):

    • Arrange the images or idols of the nine planets on the altar.
